our Values and Beliefs
Our Values and Beliefs
Our values and beliefs are at the heart of Headway Jersey. They define how we work, connect, and advocate for people living with stroke and brain injury, and for their families. They guide every member of our team, from staff to volunteers, as we work together to build a more inclusive, understanding, and recovery-focused island.
1. Championing Rehabilitation & Independence
We empower people living with brain injury to rebuild their skills, confidence, and independence through practical, high-quality rehabilitation and social support. Every member is supported to reach their full potential, at their own pace.
2. Continuous Improvement & Excellence
We are committed to continually strengthening our services, raising our standards, and responding to the evolving needs of our members. Excellence is not a goal—it’s our baseline.
3. Inclusion, Accessibility & Dignity
We create an environment where every member feels valued, respected, and included—no matter their mobility, communication ability, or background.
This includes supporting our English-speaking and Portuguese-speaking communities and working toward hiring a native Portuguese Project Coordinator to ensure no one is left behind.
4. Rebuilding Lives Through Community Participation
We help individuals with brain injury return to community life, meaningful activity, and renewed purpose by offering structured support, social rehabilitation, and opportunities for growth.
5. Raising Awareness & Advocacy
We work to increase understanding of brain injury across Jersey—its challenges, its impact, and the lifelong journey of recovery. We ensure the voices and realities of survivors are heard, respected, and represented.
6. Preventing Brain Injury Where Possible
We support initiatives and activities that promote safety, awareness, and early intervention to help reduce preventable brain injuries in our community.
7. Collaboration for Better Outcomes
We foster strong communication and partnership with healthcare teams, community organisations, families, carers, and professionals to ensure joined-up care and smoother rehabilitation pathways.
8. Responsible Stewardship & Sustainability
We are committed to safeguarding the long-term future of Headway Jersey through strong financial management, transparent decision-making, and sustainable growth.
9. Evaluation, Learning & Accountability
We regularly review the impact of our programmes to ensure our services remain effective, relevant, and genuinely life-changing for the people who rely on us.
Our Values:
Every person affected by stroke or brain injury deserves the chance to live with dignity, purpose, and hope.
Recovery should not depend on financial means, rehabilitation must be accessible to everyone.
Families and carers need as much support, education, and understanding as survivors themselves.
Collaboration between charities, healthcare services, the Government of Jersey, and the community creates better outcomes for all.
Everyone has a role to play in supporting those affected by brain injury, together we can build a stronger, more compassionate island.
Our Beliefs:
Our Motto:
Working together towards one shared purpose: helping people rebuild their lives after brain injury.
