Strategic Direction

We are filling the gap in care, an essential part of brain injury and stroke aftercare on the island. Headway Jersey supports survivors of all types of brain injury including stroke, haemorrhage, aneurysm, tumour, and trauma-related injuries, and their families.

We provide free, life-changing rehabilitation for brain injury survivors and their families. Our new three-year strategy sets a bold course for growth, ensuring every person affected by brain injury in Jersey has access to the help, care, and hope they deserve.

Our Headway bus service provides island-wide transport for members who have lost mobility or driving ability following a brain injury. Operating three days a week with two fully utilised buses, the service delivers around 2,880 journeys each year, ensuring inclusivity, accessibility, and continued engagement in rehabilitation and social activities at our Day Centre.

Environmental & Social Impact

Without this service, many members would be unable to access rehabilitation or social interaction, increasing isolation and dependence on hospital and care services. By transporting up to 30 members per week, the Headway bus reduces the need for individual car journeys, lowering emissions, promoting shared mobility, and supporting a sustainable, needs-led model of community rehabilitation.

The cost of delivering this service:  £40,622
Associated member engagement cost: 1 part-time employee / community driver

98% of our members can only access the Day Centre because of our Headway Bus service.

Our members can only attend because we operate the Headway Bus service. Without it, they would face isolation, cut off from the rehabilitation, connection, and progress they work so hard to achieve.
