We have many initiatives we wish to take forward to benefit the local brain injured but this of course will require money. Early intervention and continued support however will bring long term saving to the Island and improved lives.

A Helping Hand

Groundbreaking SaeboFlex and SaeboReach active splints allow patients with very little residual arm and hand function to immediately begin performing task-oriented, grasp and release activities, thereby forging new pathways in the brain.

Headway has recently successfully introduced Saebo units to our members who have experienced a loss of hand function due to brain injury or stroke. Saebo’s pioneering equipment is based on new research documenting the brain’s remarkable ability to “re-program” itself following injury.

“Saebo has made a huge difference to my life, 2 months ago I couldn’t even lift my arm away from my body but now my hand is much stronger and I can grasp objects which has helped with day to day tasks such as buttering a piece of toast.  I have been lucky enough to have the opportunity to take part in the trial; I use the SaeboFlex every day and take it home with me to improve mobility. The support Headway have shown me has been a life saver”
