On Sunday 24th April a team of 7 local runners will be taking part in the 2016 Virgin London Marathon, raising much needed funds for Headway Jersey.
Chris Bell, Ashley Bouteloup, Hannah Chaytor, Carrie Cummins, Nigel Godfrey and Audrey Walker have been busy training to complete one of the world’s most prestigious marathons. To add to the challenge of training, particularly with the wet and windy winter we have had, the team has also arranged a range of fundraising activities and events to help collectively raise £14,000 for Headway Jersey.
All at Headway are very grateful to each of the runners for taking part in this year’s Virgin London Marathon. Training and fundraising for the event is a huge challenge and we are delighted that the runners have chosen to do this for Headway Jersey. The team have all been to the centre and have seen how the funds they help to raise will benefit local survivors of brain injury.
Over the past few years, the charity has worked hard to ensure that all of the service provided is focused on rehabilitation, assisting individuals to increase confidence and independence. The money raised from this event will go a long way to ensuring we can continue to develop our services and introduce new and innovative programs.”
The marathon runners have each pledged to raise £2000 for Headway Jersey and covered their own travel and accommodation costs.
