To conclude Headway’s successful Action for Brain Injury Week, de Gruchy is proud to announce Headway Jersey as the store’s charity of choice for 2013.
The announcement comes at the end of a fun-packed, island-wide week of activity aimed at raising awareness of brain injury and the hard work Headway does for individuals and families who have been affected by it. It also coincides with the popular Hats4Headway Day which will take place on Friday 24th May in Jersey and which invites both individuals and organisations to raise money for the cause by wearing a funny or unusual hat.
Staff at de Gruchy will be throwing themselves into the Hats4Headway scheme wholeheartedly on Friday by wearing a collection of weird and wonderful hats in an effort to raise money for their chosen charity and customers wishing to show their support will find Headway Jersey collection tins located around the store.
Every year de Gruchy commits to supporting a local charity chosen by staff and in 2012 the store raised over £15,000 for Durrell. De Gruchy recently helped to raise £4,000 for Jersey’s Island Games teams with a fashion show at Fort Regent and hopes to raise more valuable funds working with Headway Jersey over the coming year.
John Marquis, Store Director, said: ‘Headway Jersey is such an important charity and staff at de Gruchy are looking forward to working in partnership with them throughout 2013 to raise funds for those people affected by brain injury. We hope that this week’s activity as part of Action for Brain Injury Week has helped to raise further awareness of this fantastic charity and we would urge other businesses across the Island to get behind Hats4Headway which is a great fundraising initiative and lots of fun.’
Beth Gallichan, Fundraiser and Events Organiser at Headway, said “ We are so very grateful to De Gruchy for choosing Headway to support. This partnership ensures Headway can continue to provide support, services and information to people locally who are affected by brain injury. It’s fantastic that all the staff who are enthusiastic to support Hats4Headway and we are looking forward to working together for various fundraising initiatives throughout the year”
